Many of North Somerset's roads and pavements are in a terrible state. North Somerset Council does its best to maintain them, but a lack of funding means there is an estimated repairs backlog of £58 million.
Almost all the funding for road and pavement repairs comes from the government - and North Somerset is short-changed. There are 697 miles of road that needs repair each year and yet in real terms the government has cut funding.
