Weston protestors proved right as Supreme Court rules Parliament shut down is unlawful

24 Sep 2019

The UK supreme court has unanimously ruled that Boris Johnson's decision to shut down Parliament was unlawful. The decision shows that protestors who rallied in the Italian Gardens in the last few weeks are in the right, while Weston's Tory MP, who argued that the move was "completely normal" is left with questions to answer.

Patrick Keating, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Weston-super-Mare, Worle and the Villages said, "Today's judgement shows that Boris Johnson will stop at nothing to drive through his disastrous Brexit plans. The rallies in Weston have not been a "smokescreen" but a legitimate protest against unlawful action. John Penrose must now answer questions as to why he has given support to this unlawful shutdown of Parliament."
