LIB DEMS BACK CALLS FOR END TO PUBLIC SECTOR PAY CAP

by mikebell on 26 September, 2017

Liberal Democrat Councillors have urged the Government to life the cap on public sector pay at a North Somerset Council meeting this week.

Councillor Mike Bell proposed a motion to council calling for an increase in pay for firefighters, nurses, police and other public sector and local government workers.

Mike said: "The government must listen to the overwhelming tide of public opinion and give our police, firefighters and nurses a fair pay rise. The artificial cap on public sector pay has stopped independent pay review bodies and negotiating groups from doing their work, it is time for it to be lifted."
