4.75% RISE in North Somerset Council Tax

21 Jan 2017

Council tax is likely to rise by 4.75% to protect some key services.

But the Council will continue to spend too much on PR and North Somerset Life magazine, too much on allowances for councillors and pay for top staff, and waste money on pet projects promoted by the council's ruling cabinet. Residents will also be hit by new parking charges, new fees for DIY waste at the tip and increases in all fees for Council services such as planning applications.

A difficult challenge for the administration, but one they could handle more effectively with more public engagement, real openness and different decisions on wasteful spending.
